Scenic Slopes of St. Moritz - Your Itinerary in Detail

DAY ONE

Once you arrive in Zurich and journey to St. Moritz, allowing you to sit back post flight and take in the spectacular alpine scenery. Once you arrive in St. Moritz you will have the opportunity to rest, acclimatise and enjoy the evening admiring the wonderful views of St. Moritz from the mountains. In the evening The Adventure Boutique expedition leader will give you a brief of the week ahead and arrange any ski hire for those needing equipment if time permits.

DAY TWO

After breakfast you will prepare for the week ahead, becoming accustomed with your skis and preparing passes. It is an easy day allowing the opportunity to become familiar with your equipment, so you can test and fine tune it. out are skis and passes. It is an easy day allowing us to shake down our equipment, so you can test and fine tune it. This will also allow you to gently find your ski legs, predominantly on piste. The evening will be spent unwinding in the hotel’s panoramic restaurant, enjoying fine food and drink.

DAY THREE

On today’s agenda you will have access to ski sections used in the World Cup. You can ski from the highest peak on the Corviglia side, Piz Nair at 3057m. If conditions are good, experienced skiers can ski the peak. For the less experienced, there is plenty of space to practice off piste turns next to the abundant runs around St Moritz. Our experienced guides will be available at all times to advise and help improve your technique; they are dedicated to your enjoyment to ensure you obtain the best quality experience possible.

DAY FOUR

Today you will embark on a ski safari; an amazing day of exploration in the mountains. The aim here is to ski across the whole Engadin Mountain from the southwest to the northeast, exploring as many of the 88 slopes and their associated 350km of piste without once re-crossing your tracks! Next, you ski Diavolezza Mountain; known as the wife of the devil! It is a 3000m high col with breathtaking views across the Bernina Range and Morteratsch Glacier, one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the Swiss Eastern Alps. You will descend the Morteratsch Glacier to the bottom of its associated valley, from where you will take a train journey back to the comfort of the hotel in St Moritz.

DAY FIVE

The morning will be spent skiing around the St Moritz area, allowing your body a little time to recover from the strains of the safari from the previous day. The highlight of the day will be night skiing in the floodlit Corvatsch Mountain, where you can enjoy exclusive access to the slopes. You will spend time on the slopes skiing, then dining at an excellent restaurant actually situated on the hill. An “aperitivo” as you ascend in the cable car should help cement this evening into memory as a very special event.

DAY SIX

Today gives you the chance to explore St. Moritz at your own leisure. Feel free to have a late start due to the exciting night skiing from just a few hours ago. Pick and choose the slopes you wish to do or spend some time roaming St. Moritz at your own pace. In the town itself, you have the chance to follow the Romans’ example and try one of the rich mineral springs, such as St-Moritz Bader, and maybe enjoy a massage or a spa experience in Samedan.

The town also holds the Segantini Museum, which is a memorial to the artist Giovanni Segantini who spent the last 5 years of his life in the Engadine. The building was constructed in the style of the pavilion Segantini had planned for his Alpine Panorama, which was to have been exhibited at the 1900 Paris World Exhibition.

DAY SEVEN

Today’s adventure is to Heliski; you will head to either Livignio or Val Chiavenna depending on the prevailing conditions. The journey is extended to include a panoramic view of the Engadin, flying close to the highest peak in the region Piz Bernina, at 4049m. You will drop down low to have an amazing view of the seracs and crevasses in the glaciers.

DAY EIGHT

After breakfast you’ll journey back to Zurich for your flight home. You have the option to take the train to Chur. The panoramic first-class train carriage offers unrivalled views of the area, passing over spectacular viaducts with magnificent outlooks across the Albula Valley. Frequently Asked Questions

How are we catered for?

During the hotel stay in St. Moritz, you will be able to dine within the hotel. During the day you will often stop at a typical “Alm” on the slopes to have lunch.

What skiing experience do I need?

Your level of skiing should be at least intermediate, meaning you need to be able to safely ski down a piste marked red. We will have two private ski instructors with us and if needed the groups can be separated into intermediate and advanced.

What clothing/equipment do I need?

The Adventure Boutique team will give you a full comprehensive kit list when you sign up and be on-hand if you have any questions before the trip.

Do I need to tip our Ski Guide and Expedition Leader?

Tipping your Expedition Leader and Guide is at your discretion but will be much appreciated, especially after you witness their dedication and professionalism in looking after you and ensuring your enjoyment of the trip.

How much spending money would you recommend on bringing?

Throughout the experience, you won’t need much spending money as the trip is comprehensively covered in the initial cost. You may require money for lunch on the slopes, an occasional meal not scheduled and any alcoholic drinks.

Do I need special insurance?

Please check with your travel insurance that you are covered for skiing up to 3,500m above sea level as well as heli-skiing. If you do not have adequate insurance cover, The Adventure Boutique team can refer you to appropriate insurers.

Do I need a visa?

This is dependent on your nationality, our team can advise you on this before signing up. British Citizens do not need a visa to visit Switzerland.

Do I need any vaccinations?

While your standard vaccinations, such as measles, tetanus and polio should be up to date when travelling, you will not need any additional vaccinations for your trip to Switzerland.

How large are the groups?

The group size should be a maximum of eight people. The number of participants is kept to a level where quality can be maintained. We normally have a maximum number so as not to allow the groups to become too large. We believe that by doing this, the Expedition Leaders will be able to look after you more carefully, in turn you will find the group dynamics work better and your success rate and enjoyment level increases immeasurably. If you are a group of friends of more than eight, then obviously we will work together to accommodate you. If you would like to have a more personalised trip below the recommended group size, we would happy be to facilitate this for you too.

What is the minimum age a person has to be to go on this adventure?

The minimum age is 16 years old accompanied by a legal guardian or 18 years old otherwise. If you do have children and want to bring them, we would be happy to facilitate this. We would be happy to make necessary arrangements to accommodate a young person into a private group.

Is there a maximum age?

There is no maximum age limit, providing you are fit and in good health.

Will my mobile work? Can I stay in touch with the office or my family?

You’ll find phone reception during your trip. We carry a satellite phone in case of emergencies, especially important when skiing off piste.

Can I organise this trip exclusively for myself, my friends and family?

If you have a group of friends or family who want to travel together, a bespoke date can certainly be arranged to suit your party. If you do have your own group and want to discuss any variations in the schedule or particular objectives, feel free to discuss this with The Adventure Boutique team.
